Buenos Noches. Tonight Mo and I've been chilling out for a while. With it raining all day, there was little to do tonight, so we had the beautiful chance to call home. So nice to talk to the 'rents, and even to some friends via skype/facebook chat!
This morning after breakfast and a devo with Fide, we had a long conversation with Big Rafe and Omar Jr. It is so exciting to hear/see their plans for this ministry with all of their BIG intentions. The Father is working so much here in Matagalpa, it is unbelievable!
I helped Rober paint some of the last guys' room this morning before lunch. Ha, it must be funny to hear our conversations, with me trying to talk in Spanish, and him in English. After lunch, Mo and I got together some supplies to give to the 1st and 2nd grade special ed teachers. We have been holding onto all of the stuff, mostly because we wanted to see what they really needed, and tomorrow is National Teachers Day here in Nica, so we thought it was appropriate. We had a meeting with both of them this afternoon at 2 to talk about our upcoming activities for the weeks to come. Mo and I tried to walk to the school in the rain. Ha, we looked like the biggest tourists: green rain jackets, bookbags, and tennis shoes. When we approached the vertical drop, also known as the hill on the way to school, our shoes were sliding so much, we had to back up to get courage. Thankfully Big Rafe came up from behind us in his truck and drove us the rest of the way. This "meeting" we had with the teachers ended up being like a teacher's lounge for like 5 of the other teachers at the school. We were able to help the second grade teacher make a matching game, and we were able to talk about the upcoming "curriculum" we were hoping to cover. But it was nice overall to be able to talk with the other teachers as well. Ha, there was a little boy in there waiting for his mom to leave, and it reminded me of the countless days I've spent at Grayson waiting for Mom. I leaned over and told Big Rafe that the little boy reminded me of myself, and he just happened to be picking his nose at the same time as I said that. Sweet. Naturally Big Rafe didn't let me live that one down.
Because of the down pour, we still didn't get to go to San Jose this afternoon, but we're hoping to go in the morning. Cool side story: Yesterday I was reading/praying when I was convicted about getting to know the rest of the neighborhood where we live. But I was sort of fighting the Father about it, because I was like, I don't know enough Spanish. He let me have it though when he said, would you even do it if you were fluent in Spanish. Wow. Well later in the day, some of the boys in the neighborhood were playing baseball when they lost the ball on top of the house. I went to answer the door, and I took them an extra tennis ball that I had. They asked if I wanted to play with them, so I went and played. Clearly from the Father. We were supposed to play "futbol" today, but because of the rain, we'll have to play tomorrow. Yall be lifting that up though, because I hope to show those boys the love of Christ by building a solid relationship with them.
Well I'm gonna roll. Love you all!
Spence
