Ay! Today was another adventurous day.
We went to San Jose this morning with Rafi and Don Omar. We sat and talked with the pastor for a while and got some fresh bananas from his wife. They were so good. We saw some of the kids that we meet last summer! And we're going back next Tuesday with the medical team. Sweet deal.
We came back to the house for our FAVORITE lunch. Spaghetti and Tostones (Fried Platains). Mom, I HAVE to get that cooking phenomenon to you when I get back. They are SO good.
We had a lot of down time today to reflect and dig into the word, which is always nourishment that we need.
This afternoon we went with Rafi to the school again to see what the classes in the afternoon were like. We didn't stay for too long but we could see that the morning classes needed a lot more help because the classes in the afternoon were pretty well under control and only had a handful of integrated special education students.
Spenc and I ventured out by ourselves for the first time today for some Sunday shoes for me. There were people standing outside the windows watching us inside of the store...I mean, come on in y'all :). It was funny. We made the climb up the hill again as well. Always a great sweat summoner. Ha.
Fide cooked us an awesome creation for dinner. It was like rice, eggs, cheese, onion, salt&pepper omlet. Excellent with the hand-made tortillas and juice.
Don Omar and Fide went to have dinner at Rafi's house tonight.
I don't know why but I have been tierd all day, so I'm about to hit the bed at 8:45. Awesome:)
Hope y'all are having an awesome day/night.
Buenas!
M.

  1. Did you get some shoes? I will send some with Ms. Jane in a week or so. I am glad you went to bed early, you probably need to do that more often before the medical team arrives. I love ya'll and I am so glad you both are going into town together for safety and security. I am sure that you both stick out like a sore thumb when you go places.

  2. You're going to have amazingly strong legs by the end of the summer! I've hiked that hill up to the team house - no lie, it's killer. Are there special ed classes at the school in San Jose? Seems like every time we've been there, school wasn't in session. Hey, how are your tummies doing? Did eating those bananas cause any....problems? I ate a tangerine from a tree in that village, and it wreaked (or is it wrought?) havoc with my innerds (I know, that's not an SAT word - we'll have to get back into that game next month).
