first of all, we made it! the plane landed in the middle of a serious torrential downpour. there were two other groups going to Nicaragua on the same plane and we were hoping that they were coming with us to Puentes de Esperanza but no such luck. we got to the team house at like 11:30 after a two hour ride to Matagalpa :) (which is like 1:30 our time. we were exhausted but so excited to be here!)
this morning we woke up and they told us that this week is just to rest up and help out around the house but while we're here we're going to be going around to different seminars at the schools and also working with special needs kids at a pilot school that specializes in teaching to handicap children. we are pumped!
today, i woke up at like 6, enjoyed a cool shower and sat with Fidelina (Fide) and drinking some amazing Nicaraguan coffee. i see why you liked it so much now dad. ha. we sat and talked and spenc got up a little later and we all sat in the kitchen and talked and prayed over lots of different things. there's something about hearing prayers in spanish that brings so much joy to my heart.
Fide took us into town and we met some of her family at their houses taking different things to them and went to el mercado to get some food!
came back here, and we helped roberto paint the room that spenc is staying in. we had a blast with him as our "boss". lunch was chicken and rice, so good! mom i am eating and really enjoying it so no te preocupes!
then, we were orderd (and happily agreed) to taking a SIESTA, ha nap. it's crazy how tierd we are from the traveling and all.
then roberto, spenc, and i sat around out by the garden in rocking chairs while roberto played the guitar and we all sang. seriously for like an hour or longer. the three of us then took a walk through Matagapla and roberto took us up this HUGE hill (nothing like what athens has) and then a huge staircase at the top. oh my.
we came back to the house and (oh by the way we haven't had electricity since like 4 this morning) we ate grilled cheese sandwhiches with orange juice for dinner by candlelight. we just got power back like 20 minutes ago. awesome, blog here i come.
it's really weird writing this in english when i've been speaking as much spanish as possible today which is almost the whole time! i'm pumped about speaking so much spanish and spenc has already learned so much in just one day. he may come back fluent too, who knows!? :)
so now spenc and i are just sitting here writing e-mails and what not after an awesome day. we can't wait for what is coming tomorrow. and don't worry mom, i'm about to "magic jack" you :).
sorry this post was so long, they probably won't be this thorough in the future.
Dios les bendiga.

  3. I'm praying for you. I couldn't stop thinking about you all day, not even kidding. Things aren't the same without you. But the Lord showed me today that He is going to use me and grow me, I'm pumped. Love you so much.
